CAVE DESIGN is an award-winning graphic design studio in Perth, Western Australia founded by Charmaine Cave in 1997.

Charmaine has over 30 years of design experience, creating innovative and effective solutions for local, national and international clients. She holds a Diploma of Arts (Art & Design) and has worked with numerous book publishers during her career, including Fremantle Press, TAFE Publications, WA Museum Publications, Academic Associates, Four Gables Press, Bloomings Books (Vic), Terra (the Netherlands), Cambridge University Press (UK), Les Portes du Large (France) and Odyssey Publishing (USA).

Charmaine is a former WA President, Vice-President and Councillor of the Australian Graphic Design Association (AGDA). She is a professional member of the Australian Book Design Association (ABDA), the Australian Society of Authors (ASA) and a Literati Member of Writing WA. She has a passion for history and served as a Councillor for The Government House Foundation of Western Australia Inc. Charmaine also co-wrote the pictorial history book Swanning Around Perth: An exploration of the Black Swan in our city with Alex George AM.

Charmaine was recently a guest speaker at the 2025 Lotterywest Boorloo Heritage Festival discussing Perth’s cultural and historical ties to the Black Swan and its symbolic use in art, design, flags, coat of arms, architecture, sport and more.
